applet tag vs. object/embed tags?

deployJava.writeAppletTag() seems to encourage the use of the tag. I thought that the tag was deprecated in favor of the more modern and tags, leading me to think that deployJava.js isn't all that great of a tool. Then again, I'm probably missing something :) Is someone out there an expert on this subject, and can they shed some light here?

Thanks,

I hope object tags would be used in the future, but currently there is no standard (cross-browser) way to embed applets using object tags yet. HTML 4 suggested one but it is not widely implemented. IMHO, Sun should define one as soon as possible to truly deprecate Java-specific applet tags.

BTW, embed tags are more deprecated as it is not defined even in HTML 4.

yup do agree, sun should either define a new standard tag to work with plugin2 or should undepreciate (if that is a word :) ) the tag.
