Navigating the new ORANGE to BLUE box pages to download Java Beta 10 is interesting. Its another way to filter to your operating system rather than picking from a list of exe's

I dislike the naming of the beta exe download because the beta sub version numbers have been removed. The problem here is that I cannot determine which beta version I am downloading. Previous versions had the sub version appended for example; b14,b20,b99, etc.

You guess. What sub version do we have here?

If Sun does not want to mark the download exe, then a "last date updated" date stamp on the web page would be helpful.

If I am missing something obvious, feel free to point it out.

Thanks,

Interesting observation. Historically we have removed the build number from the downloads on java.sun.com. With the bi-weekly promoted builds being available on java.net, I can see why having the date (and maybe build number) on the java.sun.com download page would be helpful. Let me see what I can do for the current page, and maybe for the RC (release candidate) we can leave the build number in the file name.

Thanks for pointing that out,
Roger

Thanks Rodger going into the download area now very clearly lets us know the version number. This should make it much easier for us as new updates arrive.

Have a great week,
