JQS for Vista?

I am running 1.6.0_10-beta-b14 on Vista SP1 and I noticed that the JQS was installed.

I have two questions

1. With the advancements in Vista for "caching" applications, is the JQS needed on Vista?
2. If it is needed, should it be Automatic (Delayed)?

I noticed the same thing today. JQS seems to be enabled by default on Vista now whereas it used to be disabled in the past. Was this done on purpose or is it a bug?

I have verified that this is still the case for b24. Should this be a bug?

Thanks for reporting this problem. A bug has been filed...

It has been fixed for b25 and is pending verification and integration.

Thanks again!

I have verified that the JQS Service does not install under Vista with build 25.

JQS is not enabled on Vista, because Vista offers its own preloading mechanisms.

Hmm well the service installed for me on my Vista box. I'll verify again with build 22. If JQS is installed on Vista, is this a defect?

On Vista, the JQS service is installed as a Windows Service. However, it is disabled by default. Users are free to enable it to experiment with cold startup times.

java version "1.6.0_10-beta"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-beta-b22)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.0-b11, mixed mode, sharing)

I see the service installed and it is set to Automatic, not Disabled.

Well, is the jqs-process running or not?
