Is there any place where I can find the underlying architecture of JAX-WS. I am looking for something that tells me step by step what JAX-WS does underneath including the Invocation, how servlet classes are used. Are there any beans deployed etc. I am just trying to understand how this works underneath.

Bean, typically. The runtime classes you package in your WAR take care of
the servlet portion for you. Look at the web.xml listed at Step #7 here[1]
for a general idea of the process.

Is the webservice endpoint in JAX-WS deployed as a servlet or bean ?

Both is possible. JSR 109 defines both deployment to EJB as well as Web (Servlet) containers.

Here is one more link to an architecture document: https://jax-ws-architecture-document.dev.java.net/nonav/doc/?jaxws/packa...
