Error when making javadoc.zip target

Hello ~

I'm able to build PhoneME Advanced for my target without problems. I've refered to the Build System Guide (Section 8.3.2) and it states there is a "javadoc.zip" target that can be used to generate Javadoc. When I call this target I get in response:

make javadoc.zip
../share/rules.mk:551: ../../build/linux-arm-mx31/./generated/empty.mk: No such file or directory
... mkdir ../../build/linux-arm-mx31/./generated/javavm/runtime
... mkdir ../../build/linux-arm-mx31/./generated/classes
touch ../../build/linux-arm-mx31/./generated/empty.mk
make: *** No rule to make target `javadoc-cdc', needed by `javadoc.zip'. Stop.

I've tried linux-x86-generic as well to verify it wasn't something with my target and I get the same result. Any suggestions?

thanks in advance
ken

Hi Ken,

Chris is correct. We removed the make javadoc-cdc support from the
Makefiles for phoneME so that people don't get confused that there is
one and only one place to get the spec.

See:

http://java.sun.com/javame/reference/apis/jsr218/

This is done especially since the moving target phoneME trunk may be out
of sync in the javadoc comments with the actual snapshotted javadocs
used for the CDC version 1.1.2 spec.

Javadoc support in the makefiles for cdc and foundation was intentionally removed. I always found the midp implementation javadoc
useful during development, particularly when
combined with doxygen comments from native code.
With all the combining of components that takes place
sometimes you need a set of docs that matches the binary
you just built.
