Are there any good tutorials out there? I've stepped through the ones for swing programmers and I found the 2D demo app pointless.
I would like to get a good idea of what kind of app I could develop with JavaFX I guess.. to get a feel for it. usually I get that when i step through real world applications.

Guess Iĺl develop a useless phonebook again :(

Coincidentally, I have been thinking about creating a simple Hangman game as the example behind an upcoming article about some basic 2D features in compiled JavaFX Script. I almost ruled it out because it wouldn't seem to demonstrate enough shapes (circle for head, lines for limbs), but I suppose an arc could be a smile (frown), etc. I'll go ahead and create the example, and post it (or a reference to it) on my "Helping you become a JavaFXpert" weblog: http://JavaFXpert.com

Thanks,
Jim Weaver

Try
http://jfx.wikia.com/wiki/Demos
http://jfx.wikia.com/wiki/Code_Examples
http://jfx.wikia.com/wiki/Tutorials

for some interesting tidbits. A favorite demo app to run is http://jmentor.com/JavaFX/JFXfreebaseBrowser.jnlp which is backed by a wiki-like DB. Source is linked off the demos page, above.

Thanks for the links, I'll take a look at them.

Would it be possible to develop some small game perhaps? Like Hangman, chess or some simple shooter. At least, then I will get feedback from my kids ;)
