Hey guys, as a Palm / Treo user and a big supporter of Java...

It appears that support of Java on Palm is not being as widely supported as it use to be ( http://blog.palm.com/palm/2008/01/last-chance-to.html ).

I would like some feedback on the possibility of developing a Java ME port of some type for Palm OS (not PocketPC, Windows Mobile, etc) based smart phones.

Any pointers to porting guides would be helpful. Thanks ahead of time.

Has anyone made any progress on Phone ME for Palm OS? I have been stalled for quite some time.

Not to mention the pending release of the Palm Pre is making me suspect that the need for it may shrink...although there are still plenty Treo/Centros out there..

Would be interesting to see Phone ME run on the Palm Pre. It is linux-based, would this means that it should be relatively easy?

Since Pre is Linux based, I would look into the linux-arm ports as a potential starting point.

I believe webOS SDK may have an additional tool to help port C/C++ to webOS, but I am not familiar with the tool.

Now a days, Palm devices come in two flavors Windows Mobile / Pocket PC based versions and the original Palm OS / Garnet OS version.

When I said "Palm OS" I meant the second one.
