64bit AMD Linux issues

Hi All

Are there any known issues with running JDK7 (we are using a build from 2 months ago not sure which one) on 64-bit Linux 2.6.21-1.3228.fc7? We are seeing some weird latencies for simple operations i.e reading a 14MB chunk from an in-memory buffer takes 10's of milliseconds. Reading some data from disk using RandomAccessFile takes 30+ ms even though we know we are reading it from buffer cache and not doing a raw disk read. This is very critical for and we need to know what may be causing this. Are there prerequisite versions of other libraries that we should be checking before installing the JDK? If so what are they? Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks
Avinash

A small test case reproducing the problem would be helpful
in tracking this issue.
