Hi,

I ran a plain midlet on BlackBerry 8800, which tries to fetch Google's home page using Connector.open(). The midlet hangs as soon as Connector.open() executes. Do note that I'm able to browser website using the BlackBerry's builtin browser. Any idea why it hangs?

regards,

Humayun.

Hi,

This behaviour is by design if you are using a BlackBerry without the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES). Probably you are connected to a BlackBerry Internet Server (BIS). In theory, the justification is to protect from abuses.

Hi,

thats serious, i build a midlet with connector.open("datagram://xyz") and on Emulator it works perfectly. On my real device (8820) there pops up a security message, but i cannot accept this message im not able to navigate on my blackberry -> i have to restart...

Funny because other Midlets work fine (Google Maps, Opera Mini) but why?!
