Hi,

I'm using Gentoo Linux, J2SDK 1.6.0_03, GlassFish V2 v2ur1-b07. I've noticed a problem running glassfish verifier (verifying EAR archive). I'm getting the following verification results:

---------------------------
STATIC VERIFICATION RESULTS
---------------------------

----------------------------------
NUMBER OF FAILURES/WARNINGS/ERRORS
----------------------------------
# of Failures : 0
# of Warnings : 0
# of Errors : 1

-----------------------------------------------------
ERRORS THAT OCCURRED WHILE RUNNING STATIC VERIFICATION
-----------------------------------------------------

Error Name : Could not verify successfully.
Error Description : java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.sun.enterprise.server.PELaunch.getServerClassPath(PELaunch.java:525)
at com.sun.enterprise.tools.verifier.VerificationHandler.initStandalone(VerificationHandler.java:190)
at com.sun.enterprise.tools.verifier.VerificationHandler.(VerificationHandler.java:109)
at com.sun.enterprise.tools.verifier.Verifier.verify(Verifier.java:140)
at com.sun.enterprise.tools.verifier.Verifier.main(Verifier.java:114)

----------------------------------
END OF STATIC VERIFICATION RESULTS
----------------------------------

Any hints on what might be the cause of this exception??

Best regards,

Olaf Tomczak

Thanks Sahoo,

I looked at the source code and realized that this error is probably related to the domain directory name. I don't know exactly where this name is taken from but the problem happens when there's no domain named 'domain1' (the default domain name) created. I always change this name when I install glassfish in setup.xml. When I created 'domain1' with asadmin command the verifier ran with no exceptions. Is this a bug or is it requiered to have a domain named 'domain1'?

Thanks a lot,
Olaf

Unfortunately standalone verifier (i.e., verifier that is invoked in
command line) assumes domain name to be domain1. You can file an RFE for
this.

Thanks,
Sahoo

Ok, thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Sahoo

Can you check if there is a directory called $GF_HOME/domains/somain1/lib?

Normally one should not encounter this NPE. It is a separate matter that
PELaunch.java [1] is not guarding itself against null value that can be
returned by File.listFiles().

Thanks,
Sahoo
