Could you please explain further what do you mean "Everything is empty"? Can you post couple screenshots of Control Panel and java desktop applications? Is this only affecting desktop app? Do you have problem with applets?

Thanks,
Roger Y.

As you can see, My Java panel now has white letters. With previous version there wasn't letters at all. I have tried some applets and they seem ok. My graphic card is ATI FireGL V5200. I have laptop HP nw8440.

Thanks for the information.

Do you have the latest video drivers?
Please update them if not.

Also, could you please post the output from
any swing application (like SwingSet2) with
J2D_TRACE_LEVEL=4 environment variable:
cd jdk1.6.0_05/demo/jfc/SwingSet2
set J2D_TRACE_LEVEL=4
../../../bin/java -jar SwingSet2.jar
I have the latest drivers. I tried to start SwingSet but I am not getting any output.

Did you set the environment variable prior to starting
the SwingSet (from the same console, no by double-clicking
the .jar file)?
set J2D_TRACE_LEVEL=4
You should see something like this (obviously with your hw):
Thanks for the info.

Your driver is pretty old, actually. The latest version is 6.14.10.6706 while yours is 6.14.10.6677 (which
I found on http://www.hp.com/support website).

Note that your chip is known as "ATI Mobility Radeon X1600"
so you might want to install drivers for that.

And FYI, your problem will go away in 6uN b08 because of the fix
for this bug:
6613066: D3D: text is missing when the pipeline is enabled [ATI X1600]
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6613066

The pipeline will be disabled unless your driver is new enough.

Thanks,
Dmitri

Most likely its the introduction of the Direct3D rendering pipeline which is now enabled by default.

I guess Dimitri would be happy to know about your system configuration like:
- Graphic card / chipset it is based on
- Graphic driver / version
- General system description

Hello,

yes, this is likely to be related to the new Direct3D pipeline. Please
take a look at this thread:
http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=31500&tstart=0

And post the hardware configuration as suggested in that thread.

Do you have the latest drivers installed?

Thanks,
Dmitri
