Just downloaded and installed the latest binary for Windows XP SP2. 32-bit. After I install, there is no Java Quick Start or JQS service in the windows Services.

I used this install :

Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language JDK file
jdk-6u5-ea-bin-b04-windows-i586-p-27_sep_2007.exe, 64.09 MB (MD5 Checksum)

Has the installation of the Windows service for JQS been disabled in this build, or is there something specific I need to do to enable it?

Thanks.

Are you running into the problem described on http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=31404&tstart=0 (Installing 6uN over 6u2)?

To my knowledge you currently have to enable JQS manually, either by going to the java control panel and, under advanced, checking the box under Java Quickstart, or by running the jqs.exe command with the 'register' argument. This started the service on my machine. However, the service doesn't appear to be working for me, as I can't get JDK 1.6u5 to work as my default plugin JRE.
