I am getting this message while installing ImageIO on solaris sparc.
"The dowload file appears to be corrupted. Please refer to the troublehooting section of Installation Instructions on the download page for more information. Please do not attempt to install this archive file."

I followed the steps below
Downloded jai_imageio-1_1-lib-solaris-sparc-jdk.bin to directory /opt/prashanth
cd opt/Websphere/AppServer/java //this is my app server jdk directory
chmod u+x /opt/prashanth/jai_imageio-1_1-lib-solaris-sparc-jdk.bin
/opt/prashanth/jai_imageio-1_1-lib-solaris-sparc-jdk.bin

Am I doing something wrong here?

I get the same message while installing JRE version also.

What about in a "standard" JDK or JRE directory outside of Websphere although
I'm not quite sure how it would matter ...

I just downloaded jai_imageio-1_1-lib-solaris-sparc-jdk.bin from java.net and was able without problem to install it into jdk1.5.0_01 on a Sparc system running Solaris 10.

I am not working on installation error now. For now I copied the 3 '.so' files to the folder jre/lib/sparc and the 2 jars to the class path. I think this is what the installer does.
Once I am done with my application testing, I will come back to the installation error.

That should work. The installation hierarchy is

/jre/lib/ext/jai_imageio.jar
/jre/lib/ext/clibwrapper_jiio.jar
/jre/lib/sparc/libclib_jiio.so
/jre/lib/sparc/libclib_jiio_vis.so
/jre/lib/sparc/libclib_jiio_vis2.so

It is working now. There was a problem with my .bin installation file. This file was not transfered from my FTP to Solaries box in binary mode.

Thanks,
Prashanth

Brian Burkhalter

Again, thanks for posting the conclusion.
