How do I load fonts in Netbeans 5.5?

Well well, it is high time that we had a forum like this. Sorry if I sound awkward but two years back I couldn't find something like this so I was stuck with my project. Anyways lets get it on shall we!
Here's my deal, I'm trying to make a localized SMS message application using a certain font. Now when I was using the default J2ME toolkit provided by SUN, I knew how to load the file. I just changed the default font for the emulator and I worked like magic. However after sometime I can across Netbeans Mobility and I wanted to port my application to the IDE. The application works fine but since the font is not specified with in the application all I see are just hollow squares.
So what I need is to know how to load the font in my application and bundle it in my application as a resource. Thanks for reading this.

P.S. I'm really enthused about this mobile application dev stuff so if you can give me some pointers on how to go about it, I would really appreciate it. I was thinking of buying this book, "Beginning J2ME: From Novice to Professional, Third Edition (Novice to Professional)". What do you think?

Thanks for the kudos. You're a part of the community now so I hope you'll be getting involved ;-)

About books: I don't know that particular book but here is a list of books on our wiki:

In fact, you might want to take a look at our "Getting Started" page for general info

and our ME Application Developer project:

About fonts:

Unfortunately, I am not an expert on fonts. Maybe someone else on the list can help. But I know that many aspects of MIDP font support are optional, including the types of fonts available. I did a quick search for "MIDP Custom Fonts" and found this:

Let me know if that helps. Cheers,
