Is there an easy way to sniff SOAP messages?

I would like to avoid ethereal...

I know you said you'd like to avoid ethereal, but have you tried using ethereal's "Follow TCP Stream" tool? Sselect any packet of your traffic, then select this tool from the main "Tools" menu. It gives you a nice summary of the entire conversation between a pair of machines. I think this actually works rather well.

Good luck.

I think ethereal is somewhat dead now. The developer(s) moved to a successor called wireshark. But I agree, it's a great tool.

Even easier is set these two system properties, either on command line with -Dxxx=true or in your code.
