Are there any plans to support GUI apps on the N770? It would be very nice to have a Java platform on that device, so I could make a application demo for our user meeting this fall, where a J2ME app talks to a Glassfish based Java EE application.

Have a look at those links:

- build instructions and download

- OSGi on N800

Thanks for your reply. I already have this version up and running. As far as I understood the wiki entry, that there is no support for any GUI framework. So my question was refering to, if there will be support for LCDUI or AGUI.

Since this is an open source project, I'm assuming you are volunteering
to help in the porting effort of phoneME Advanced to the Nokia
N770/N800. ;-) The first part of the GUI effort is to get Personal
Profile to work (AWT and Applet support). This should be pretty
straight-forward if everyone pitches in and helps out.

Can we count on you to help?

Hi Hinkmond,

from the perspective of contributing to the implementation, I have never been programming for Linux/gtk. On a native level, I did only torture some Windows boxes with GDI code. ;-) But I could help in testing and debugging existing code on N770.

That will be great that you will be able to help test. Thanks very
much! This will be a good community effort to get the GUI port for the
Nokia N770/N800.
