https://ajax.dev.java.net/widget-model.html#widget_instance_parameters

Is there anyway to specify the contents of the args widget instance parameter in the component.htm?

I would like to do something like this in component.htm:

or

As a side question, can one get away with using the service parameter for their own purposes or does Jmaki do something with this parameter, if its specified, in it's default initialization?

You will need to give the widget an id and access it using the following.

Like the following:

You can then from a script do the following:

jmaki.getWidget("foo") to get the instance of the widget.

You will need to set the wargs as a property of the widget you are trying to access.

The other option would be to do the following in you component.htm

I would suggest you namespace the variable.

The service parameter can be used by the widget to do pretty much whatever you would like to do.
