Hello Peoples,

I have developed one news providing software based on MIDP 1.0 and CLDC1.0

I have tested it on Nokia 6630 , Nokia 5300 phone it is working well and when i am using same buid (.jar) for SonyEricsson and other nokia phones it gives problems like canot open the application etc.

Why it is so?

is there any other procedure to port aplication for other series and other makes

Porting is a huge topic in itself. There are a lot of differences between different phones: different screen sizes, supported media formats, maximum jar size, heap size, video memory size, disallowed or required jad/manifest entries, implementation bugs, different native font sizes, different ways of handling sound, fullscreen issues, different key codes, different ways of handling interruptions (calls, messages, system alerts, open/closing clamshell phones), different icon sizes/formats/bit depths -- to name a few most common issues. So the 'procedure' is to know what you may expect on a handset and test, fix bugs, test, fix bugs... life sucks :P If your app is free software you may expect your users to report bugs and test fixed builds. You may also borrow phones from your family and friends for a day or so to test on as many handsets as possible.
