For a newbie in "The Art of Swinging" what books would you recommend reading/buying?
I'd vote for "Desktop Java Live" http://www.sourcebeat.com/books/desktopjavalive.html . It dosn't really cover the individual components although the java tutorial site pretty much covers all of those. This'll give you a bit more on the patterns and threading issues that drive the UI. For the components detail maybe one of the O'Reilly or Manning Swing books.. but I'm not sure when they were last revised (saying that "Desktop Java Live" hasn't been updated recently either).
