VideoControl

Has anyone used the VideoControl to take pictures and save them to the file
system? I can save them to RMS but that seems limited. I am using the Nextel
i580

videoControl.getSnapshot(null)

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Chris

I made the test on SEMC w810i and had no issue,

This handset allow to choose on of the format proposed by the property video.snapshot.encodings

encoding=jpeg&width=120&height=160

encoding=jpeg&width=240&height=320

encoding=jpeg&width=480&height=640

encoding=jpeg&width=960&height=1280

(this property isn't available on first w810 versions, was added in a maintenance release)

videoControl.getSnapshot(encoding=jpeg&width=960&height=1280)

this makes very good pictures, saving to filesystem / memory stick isn't a problem.

Save the byte array as .jpg file and there's no problem.

Only limitation for this handset is that filesystem allow only 507 files per directory (close to 512 .... It's may be a limitation of memory stick file system)

There were already several posts about video snapshot on the mailing list :

http://archives.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0607&L=kvm-interest&P=2369

http://archives.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0701&L=kvm-interest&D=0&P=...

can't talk for the Motorola iden phone Nextel i580. never had one in hand.

I wonder if you need a signature to access filesystem on that handy ( recent thread here : http://archives.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A1=ind0702&L=kvm-interest#6 )

/Chris(p)
