Hi,

will there be a software only version of JAI-ImageIO for the upcoming release? JAI now ships as software only and runs fast on a new Core2Duo machine, will JAI-IMAGEIO follow this lead?

Cheers,

Simon

Agreed, both JAI and ImageIO have always been software only (although
I am sure there are some plugins that might use specialized hardware
- I would think more so on JAI).

In that case, there will not likely be an equivalent JAI-Image I/O Tools
release. Unlike JAI, JAI-Image I/O Tools loses some functionality if the
native libraries are not present.
