dont know if this is the correct forum, but here is what I am looking for.
We would like to create a 3d environment on a website where the user can login and change the environment to their liking. eg. change the color of the walls, add furniture to a room, etc. they save the changes and the next time they login the environment is the way they created it.
does anyone know what to use to create this type of website? will java 3d do this? the website is running on a unix system.
thanks!

Try book "3D User Interfaces with Java 3D" from Jon Barrileaux.
This has 90% you are looking for.

For web, consider webstart to launch your Java3D application.

Yes correct, java3D is a good API todo that.

If you know java language, it is a clever choice (I think).

It took me some times (3D Maths and all 3D tricks are not that simple)

I Don't beleive you will do such a software in 3 weeks time.
