Has JSE6 appeared pre-installed on any Vista machines that anyone knows of?

Hi:

Maybe that distro project is not the right one; but I remember hearing about some Vista distributions that would include it.

Was I actually wrong?

steevoco:

Indeed the jdk-distros project is for Linux or
OpenSolaris distributions who redistribute the JDK
under the DLJ license.

The earlier observation that JDK 6 is Vista
compatible is correct. And, Sun regularly works
with OEM's to insure that Java is included on PC's.
I don't know the recent status of that, however.

In any case users can always get the latest
Java for Windows from http://java.com

Found it:

I found the place where I heard about what I'm asking. In a blog posting by Chet Haase:

http://weblogs.java.net/blog/chet/archive/2006/10/java_on_vista_y.html

If you look in that entry for the heading "Java SE 6 is the Best Solution for Vista", in the third paragraph he mentions what I'm asking about: and points to the correct distro license. Maybe I'll try just asking him directly.

But has anyone heard about any of this?

Hi.

No; but there were going to be many OEM's do distribute with it. There is the jdk-distros project:

https://jdk-distros.dev.java.net/

Which made it easy to bundle a distro; and there was excitement about several distributors being on board with it, including Sony and Dell with Vista distributions if I remember right. Heard anything?
