There has been some badness with handling non-latin character sets on
Samsung phones.

You ought to check:

i) If you're using the phones font, that the font contains the character
that you want to display i.e. by hard coding a cyrillic string in the
application and getting it to display.

ii) That the readUTF functions work on that Cyrillic strings - presumably
this is the function that reads the SMS from the phones inbox.

Thanks everybody who replied.

Now about sms push for Samsung - it is supported, but long messages
(non-ascii, particularly cyrillic) appear to be cut in several pieces on
receiving device. On other phones it works OK. Is it a known Samsung
issue, can anybody confirm?

Mike

The 3 network in the UK have told us that LG phones do not support WAP
push messages. I guess that means all of them.

Does anybody know if any LG GSM phone supports sms-push? Old
ones such
as B2000, G5600 do not.

The LG Chocolate phone (aka kg800 in the UK) appear not to support
SMS-push.

The LG U81xx family does not support them, I don't know if the newest ones
do.

I think the LG chocolate KE820 phone has this feature http://www.ipelagos.com/pd_lg_ke820_slim_chocolate_phone.cfm but it's quite expensive. Besides, I have had 2 lg phone so far and at least for me they werent so user friendly.
