Hello,

using SwingX is great. Good work to everyone contribute to it.
Are any plans for an JXFontChooser ?
If there isnt any plan i would like to start an incubator project for it.

My first thoughts about it are:
Should be useable like JFileChooser or JColorChooser.
Typical Methods should be:

public static int JXFileChooser#showFontChooser();
public static int JXFileChooser#showFontChooser(Font selectedFont);

regards,
Jens

Yes, there is an Fontchooser from l2f. I do not know if Frederic plan to add it into SwingX ?

Allow to set an Filter is an good idea.

Frédéric Lavigne

I did not plan to add it into SwingX. Although I've nothing against
contributing the code. The fontchooser I've implemented is a Swing
component, it uses a FontChooserModel to get the list of fonts to
display.

For some applications it'd be nice to allow selection of monospaced fonts only. Also an option to have live preview (in the list itself).

The ability set a filter would be ever better.

abstract boolean filter(Font f);

would be simple, good and very _flexible_

I might be mistaken here with newer versions of Java2D but at least in past
versions loading a Font was really expensive. Won't it be more efficient to
have something like a font fetcher interface rather than a filter interface?
Or is the performance of Font object creation not a problem (or no longer a
problem)?
