I keep reading that phoneME Advanced is supposed to have the ability to run MIDlets, but I just can't get my head around how that would be possible. Aren't the lifecycles and functions of MIDP/CLDC and CDC completely different? How exactly are you supposed to be able to run MIDP apps inside of phoneME Advanced?

Any help would be appreciated, even a "here is a link to check out, next time do better searching you idiot" would be great.

The reason I am interested is that I would like to run a MIDP application that I have been working on for years on Windows CE 5.0 devices, and there are no good MIDP VMs for Windows CE, just CDC VMs. Now that there is a project to port phoneME Advanced to Windows PocketPC devices, there is a possible opportunity here. I would just need to know how to run the MIDlet with Advanced.

Thanks for any help!

Yes it is in the works. We're working on an executive process that will
manage the
lifecycle and foreground management and the messaging system for
interprocess
communication. If you build MIDP/CDC today we have some scaffolding in
place - a mini_AMS - that allows MIDlets to be installed and run. We even
included a temporary "autotest" script for TCK test runs. There is also
basic
effort in place to get Wince working, but less cycles are going towards that
platform at the moment. e.g. until we get the end to end application
management in place.
