Wta's OTA for midlet installation

5 replies [Last post]

Hello all,
I have got the jar and jad files for the midlet. Now through WTA's OTA
im trying to install the midlet.
In the installation screen it asks for the proper url.
What url do I need to provide over here ?

When I package the midlet other than .jar and .jad files no html files
get created.
So how do I install my midlet using OTA ?

Thanks,
R.Naik

hello sriram,
i tried on both versions of 2.2 and 2.5 wireless toolkits.

Now my html content is as follows

PushDemo.html
===========

PushDemo

href="http://localhost:4932/PushDemo/bin/PushDemo.jad">PushDemo.jad

And jad file content i.e, PushDemo.jad file is as follows
======
MIDlet-1: PushDemo, PushDemo.png, SmsSend
MIDlet-Jar-Size: 4543
MIDlet-Jar-URL: http://localhost:4932/PushDemo/bin/PushDemo.jar
MIDlet-Name: PushDemo
MIDlet-Permissions:
javax.microedition.io.Connector.http,javax.microedition.io.Connector.htt
ps
MIDlet-Push-1: sms://:1000, PushDemo, *
MIDlet-Vendor: Unknown
MIDlet-Version: 1.0
MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.1
MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0

And within OTA i entered this URL
====

http://localhost:4932/PushDemo/bin/PushDemo.jad

Now it says like "The Connection failed. Please check the website url
and try again."

Whats might be the wrong ?

hi,

R u using the 2.5 emulator or 2.2?

Do you have any app server? If U have then move your jad and jar file
into the folder where .html files are stored. And don't forget to modify
the url path in the .jad file.

or else U can call me on 9373.... no.

hi,

if Ur putting Ur Jad and Jar in a server with public IP fr example:
195.125.145.25 then the entry in jad file will be as follow

MIDlet-1: Colors, /icons/ColorChooser.png, example.chooser.Color
MIDlet-Description: Technical demonstration programs for MIDP
MIDlet-Jar-Size: 102373
MIDlet-Jar-URL: http://195.125.145.25:8090//demos.jar
MIDlet-Name: SunSamples - Demos
MIDlet-Permissions:
javax.microedition.io.Connector.http,javax.microedition.io.Connector.htt
ps
MIDlet-Vendor: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
MIDlet-Version: 2.0
MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0

To download the JAD you have to give the URL as follow:

http://195.125.145.25:8090//demos.jad

The above process is used for installing midlet on the device via OTA.
Any help U can call me or mail me.

Ur most welcome.

That link does work!

So you're trying to use OTA in your WTK then?

Why don't you just open the jad/jar in WTK without using OTA, just go to
WTK program folder on windows start menu and choose Run MIDP Application

There, 2 netbeans projects attached. In the smsreceive project ignore
the midlets for the samsung, that was me trying to get it working for a
samsung device.

Run both midlets, text to the number thats in the title bar of the
emulator and bobs ur uncle!
