Hi, I am using Ubuntu Linux.
I downloaded GlassFish V1 Milestone 7. I followed "the Instructions to unbundle and configure GlassFish" below:

1. Download one of the bundles to disk
2. Run:

java -Xmx256m -jar filename.jar

3. cd glassfish
4. ant -f setup.xml
I got an error message when I tried to run step 3:
"bash: ant: Permission denied"
It is quite strange, since I have the full permission of the installation directory, even I got the same message with the root account.
has anyone met such problem? It would be very kind of you to help. Tnanks in advance.

Best Regards:)
Robin

If you want to use debian packages all the way, an ubuntu/glassfish howto is available off http://blogs.sun.com/sharps/entry/glassfish_on_ubuntu_desktop_6

Thanks

firstly after you download pls change mod (chmod maybe u can use 777).

then maybe u can install ant (download at apache site) as separately or directly using ant in glassfish. Don't forget modified your CLASSPATH and PATH in your enviroment to include the ant's lib and bin file.

Lastly try using ant command at your bash prompt.

Which ant are you using? The one in glassfish/lib/ant/bin? Then do a chmod 755 glassfish/lib/ant/bin first. Annoyingly, it doesn't get installed with the right permission.
