Hi am using the scaledInstance() method of image to scale the dimensions of images uploaded in a web application to smaller dimensions.

Everything works fine but the new image looses a lot of the original image's quality and doesn't look as sharp and detailed. Using this method how could I improve the scaling so no quality is lost. I would rather not use JAI since all i need to do is resize image thanks.

Hmm... Scaled-down image doesn't look as sharp and detailed as the original one... Perhaps it's because it has been scaled-down and has less pixels? What scale-down factor are we talking about here?
