[duplicate copied from mailinglist - synch between list and forum looks broken since at least European noon yesterday !]

looks even worse - any transfer between both seems to be cut off :-(

up to the top of the list - broken again.

On the bright side, I got some higher up reaction that a solution are going to be pushed, really pushed now.

We'll see.

Beware: the watch notification (at least the per-thread, don't know about forum watch because I don't have it on) is off as well :-(

seems to work again, until the next time ;-)

BTW: I hope we can do better than 80 (= 8 community members) votes

arrrggghhhh ... that's the bad news of the year :-(

Looks like running - only the synch of the back messages during the down
period is still missing (as Dave already mentioned, maybe repetition
drives home ) Kick them, Richard! We _need_ our communication lines
working flawlessly.

Or we just need to declare victory and retreat. I much prefer the
mailing list, but since this seems to be unreliable technology, maybe
we should turn off the mailing lists and just use the forums. Or
migrate to sourceforge...

I would be 100% against moving to SourceForge. The microscopic square in the middle of the page for your project info just isn't good enough for me. ;)

Are we the only project that seems to be having this problem? You would think that the Sun developers might have some pull to get things like this corrected. ;)

You would think! It seems weird, because I know I get the swing/awt mailing list and haven't noticed any issues with it.

so even if I had written you a note that my CVS is fixed now, you would not have received it anyway? now I feel a little less guilty

on daily schedule again :-(

traffic from mailing list to forum looks broken - intermittently, some come, some don't

again - both ways (at least none of mine today crossed-over)

Hmmm ... a bit inconclusive - maybe only one-way or intermittent? The alert posted to the mailinglist made it to the forum, but the mailinglist got only a subset of messages posted to the forum

Just added my 10 votes to the 'get this fixed' issue. It looks like the issue that time forgot though, no updates in the last 2 months :(

either it's down again - or very sluggish: nothing came through for about 2 hour, both directions.

Again, seems to be breaking in the order of hours after having been fixed ... :-((((

Watch notification is down as well, so no option but look into the forum from time to time ... :-((

Okay, I tried something new: filed an issue

https://java-net.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=282

and gave all my ten votes for it - let's drown that issue in votes!

Thanks

three weeks went by ... but now the problem's back:

last I got was Richard's reply to "Future of JXTable", 11. Oct. 19:21 (European)

This part of java.net is outsourced to O'Reilly. You'd think keeping a mailing list and a forum in sync would be pretty easy. This is really frustrating from my POV because I don't have any control. I also don't understand why we seem to suffer, but the core swing mailinglist/forum never seems to have problems.

roughly between (European time zone)

Sep 18, 2006 9:44 PM, Richard in "javabean ready for external review"

and

Sep 19, 2006 8:00 PM, the thread about the gap around taskpane

unfortunately, everybody is on vacation (national holiday in the US :-)). I do see a lot of your posts twice in the forums though -- one normal and one marked as a "copy from mailing list". Is it just a long delay, or is it really broken?

that explains the silence :-)

it's broken and restarted (except for the last from Friday, 1. Sept which is still broken). On "restart", the mails which had not been delivered to the forum - f.i. mine withouth the duplicate marker, which I copied manually to the forum using the web form - are automatically copied over. Unfortunately, the other way round never happens: that is, messages to the forum during the down time never make it to the mailing list.

The spooky twirk of the current down is that I don't even get notification when forum threads are updated ... :-(

Dave, no need to feel guilty - only be aware that your recent posts (to the closure thread, very interesting!) aren't visible to the mailing list crowd, including Shai.

getting really frustrated again ...

I think it may be time to bring the option of opting out of collabnet up for a vote.

There's a new thread today that I saw on both the forum and the mailing list. Perhaps the gateway works but the old traffic didn't echo from one to the other?

I'm not sure. What's worse, the old system was running on our own servers so we could monkey with things in a pinch. Now we are running completely on collabnet, so there isn't much we can do :(.

It seems to be back, although messages in the mailing list haven't been synced back to the forum yet.

Here we go again: the mailinglist didn't get anything posted to the forum after 26.8. 4:33 (European time). The reverse direction looks broken as well (Antonio's last message to the javabeans thread didn't appear on the forum)

Sigh...
