LG3D with NetBeans: Update needed

Hi,

The article entitled >>Building and Running Project Looking Glass with NetBeans<< needs update. It still refers to version 0-7-0 so it's little misleading (e.g. LG3D now requires Mustang and there's no need to install JAI package anymore). Also, it's not in sync with >>Project Looking Glass Developer's Guide<< (e.g. lg3d-core and lg3d-incubator needs to be check-out, not only lg3d-core and lg3d-demo-apps). Where there is not lg3d-incubator, the LG3D don't work properly (due to lack of the BackgroundManager).

Apart from this, I would like to translate project's homepage into Polish.

I've already requested the Content Developer role.

Hi Stanley,

Yeah, phild is correctly pointed it out.

Sounds good to me. Let's explain how to check out the current development branch (let's start putting "development", since "current branch" could be translated into "the branch for the current release (which is rel_0-8-1). Then we can add something like "if you'd like to check out CVS of one of the released version, select a branch." How does this sound?

Being the initial author of the "using NetBeans document" I wanted to
say thanks to those who have contributed to the badly needed update to
the document.

Hi diabeteo,

Yeah, you are right. Thanks for pointing it out. Would you file a bug against it using IssueTracker?

Thanks for your willingness! :)

Thank you. Since you've already filed your JCA, I just approved your request. Would you mind to update the original NetBeans document to 0.8.1 before translation?

Ok. I'll also make new screenshots.

I think, it'll be ready tomorrow :)

Hi,

The article is now up to date:
https://lg3d.dev.java.net/netbeans/NetBeansLookingGlass.html

Please check if there's no spelling mistakes (I hope everything is ok).

Some explanation is needed :) :
my java.net nick >>Diabeteo<< is the name of my application. It offers opportunity to simulate the effects of changes in insulin and diet on the blood glucose profile of a diabetic patient. It can upload meter and insulin dosing data and generate charts to help identify patterns. It will be relased in 2007 (of course it's open-source).

But, you can call me whatever You like ;)

Looks great! Thank you for all your effort including taking the updated screenshots!

And thanks for the explanation of "Diabeteo" ;) It is great that you are developing such an application that helps people's life, in opensource!

I'm looking at the NetBeans article....

Select the Branch to Checkout
Enter the name of the branch or click the "Browse" button to open the Browse Branches dialog box to search for available branches and tags.
If you do not specify a branch or tag, the trunk is checked out.

Module(s): lg3d-core
Revision or Tag: rel_0-8-1

rel_0-8-1 is the current branch as of August 15, 2006.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the current version has for some time, been located in the branch
Therefore, this entry may be left blank.

Running rel_0-8-1 will give you out of date code.

Regards

Hi,

Good point. Should I change it, Hideya?
I my opinion, pieces of information concerning current branch can be thrown away. If someone would like to use CVS, he will want to download the current version, so he will leave this entry blank (as phild wrote).

Michal, if you want to... :) Give me some time, I will drop you a line.
