[JAI-IMAGEIO] Grayscale images rendered too light

The Java 2D bug "Grayscale TYPE_CUSTOM BufferedImages are rendered lighter
than TYPE_BYTE_GRAY" which is linked here

http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5051418

has been the cause of at least three bugs and issues reported against JAI and
JAI Image I/O Tools yet this bug still has no votes in the java.sun.com
bug database! If this is causing you problems or you just think it's
important please vote for this issue including a comment if appropriate.

Thanks,

Brian

This hasn't really been a problem for us, since we found that
rendering of CUSTOM images was very slow, so we made sure our
rendering paths never create one.

I would vote for it if I were allowed more than 3 votes :)

Good plan. ;-)

Too bad those that never vote can't transfer their votes to those who do.
