Hey all,

Any update on support for Fedora/Redhat? I guess that would mean RPM releases as well as getting in the standard yum repositories?

Regards,
Matt

Matt:

Fedora's objectives stipulate only open source [1]
and while that is the goal for Sun Java we are not
there yet.

You may find appropriate packages for Fedora from
the JPackage Project [2]. We have been hoping to
work with JPackage and Linux distributors to
package Sun Java under the DLJ license.
These discussions are ongoing.

You will find that our standard bundles do
support RedHat [3].

FWIW we have had a generous offer for free
hosting for a yum repository if someone
packages Sun Java under the DLJ for Cent OS [4].
So far there have not been packages for Cent OS
AFAIK.

There are some rpms made for CentOS - some recent discussion of them here: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2006-August/002331.html

Yes, you're right! I've been really busy and haven't
had a chance to mention that I've discussed this with
Johhny Hughes [1] and he mentioned that packages
are available in the testing repository [2].

Thanks for bringing this up!
