I am trying to build Mustang on Ubuntu 6.06. I hacked my way past hotspot and up to the point where it wants to build Motif.

Then the build stops with

make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/temp/mustangsrc/hotspot/make'
cd ../../motif/lib/Xm ; \
make ARCH_DATA_MODEL=32 ARCH=i586; \
make includes ARCH_DATA_MODEL=32 ARCH=i586
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/temp/mustangsrc/motif/lib/Xm'
(cd util; make)
make[3]: Entering directory `/home/temp/mustangsrc/motif/lib/Xm/util'
make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config/Imake.tmpl', needed by `xmkmf'. Stop.
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/temp/mustangsrc/motif/lib/Xm/util'
make[2]: *** [util/mkcatdefs] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/temp/mustangsrc/motif/lib/Xm'

make: *** [scsl-build] Error 2

Well, I don't know how to make /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config/Imake.tmpl either. It used to come in the xutils package, but no more. Installing the motif development package brings no relief.

I really don't want to rebuild Motif, and I'd be happy to work with the binary whatever-it-is-that-it-wants-to-build. Does someone know whether I could get a pre-built binary somewhere (e.g. in the binary distribution) so I can skip this step?

Thanks,

Cay

Excellent! I'll try and look at each of the issues/changes you have in detail. Thank you for the blog report.

Thanks very much! I'd REALLY like to have those static issues fixed. (In fact, I ran into those very same ones a year ago when I did the build on Fedora. I passed them on to Tim Bell who promised to forward them, but unfortunately the same issues are still there.) The fixes would be trivial, and then people could just use GCC 4.0, with the caveat of course that this isn't officially tested.

Cheers,

Cay
