Hello

Using Fedora 5 OS.

I downloaded the weekly snapshot of the JDK read a website that showed how to get it to work and it does.

I can not get the Java 6 applet plugin to work. I CAN get the Java 5 applet plugin to work by downloading the JRE and doing:

ln -fs /usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

Then when I try:

ls -fs /usr/java/jdk1.6.0/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

The applet plugin does not work.

Has anyone succeeded in getting the weekly Java 6 JDK snapshot applet plugin to work? If so how?

The command I tried was
ln -fs /usr/java/jdk1.6.0/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

ln NOT ls (typo earlie)

I've got java6 running OK on FC5.

I've linked the plugin in my home directory with:

ln -s /usr/local/java/jdk/jdk1.6.0/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so ~/.mozilla/plugins

I'm using:
java version "1.6.0-beta2"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-beta2-b77)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0-beta2-b77, mixed mode, sharing)

Kees.

Thanks for the help.

I appears the problem was that b78 was
(to quote the Comicbook guy from Simpsons
"the worst JDK.. EVER!"

Everything works OK with b79.
