Hi,
I am thinking if there is way to run my 3D application without the Looking Glass Desktop Environment as same as Yahoo Widgets.

One of our goals is to support the development of 3D apps, which may or may not run inside the 3D desktop.

By modifying various configuration files and (probably) providing a simplified scene manager you can remove all the desktop 'stuff' leaving your app as the only thing running within the 3D window.

The one thing you can't do at the moment which I'd like to address is run lg3d in a transparent (or non rectangular) windows. This is an AWT issue so it will take some time to get it addressed.

Have you tried Yahoo Widgets?
Try to press F8 on your keyboard and see what happen.
There is lot to learn from it.

Moreover, to increase 3D apps adoption we need a simple way for designer or average user to develop these kind of application. (Flash vs Applet)

Yep, I use Yahoo Widgets (or Konfabulator) on my PC.

This is really true. We need to think more about the tool chain. Konfabulator is good and simple -- a set of images, JavaScripts and an XML file to hook them together. Do you have any idea what kind of things "LG3D Widget" should support?
