hi,

Appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction for setting up a permanent multichannel conferencing feature within Mobicents. This setup will be conceptually similar to multiple radio channels or walkie-talkie channels.

Cheers.

Alex

You will need a piece of software that can mix the media streams (conference brigde) since this is not a part of Mobicents.

I don't have a good answer but I would take a look at Asterisk or SipXChange. (There are of course commersial products as well)

Let me know if you find anything useful.

The rest depends to some extent on the interface for the conference bridge but for what i think you mean by "permanent multichannel conferencing" you could let the participants dial to a known address and then let the application point them to the conference bridge.

There is an Asterisk RA for Mobicents (don't know about its status) and the people behind it may be aware of to use it in conjunction with Asterisk which has conferencing capabilities.

Does that mean that Mobicents currently supports a point-to-point communication connectivity as opposed to a many-to-many connectivity as envisaged in my earlier mail?

Yes and no.

In the sip protocol (which I'm focused on) the application managing the sip signalling is generally not involved in the media streaming.
The sip RA in Mobicents is used to enable Sbbs to receive events resulting in sip messages coming into the sip stack of the RA. But it has nothing to do with the media streams.
