I am trying to run project looking glass on a SuSE 9.0 system. I have installed everything that the instructions said needed installing, but when I run the lg3d-dev file it says "[1] " then a number, which varies. The most recent time it was 2882. However the program does not come up. Does anyone have any help?

Fixed the error. You reall need to have the exact versions of everything listed in the Getting Started section. Blackdown stuff won't work.

Yes, you are right. This (type of) error generally occurs when trying to execute/build a java app written for jdk1.5.0 with only 1.4.2 installed.

I have a radeon 9500 also.

EDIT:
Here is what lgserver.log has to say:

Java 3D 1.3.2 build 4 should resolve these issues, please download the new version from j3d-core.dev.java.net

I installed the new buld of Java3D, and now the dev version works. However when I try to run it with the lg3d-session file, it crashes and I just get a blank screen, and I am forced to restart computer.

Edit: I turned back on my xdm service, and tried it again and it worked.

i get the same error, still working on why.
in the meantime, check your /tmp/lgserver.log and (more usefully) /var/tmp/lgserver.log for errors and debug

good luck!

EDIT: the logs show the exact same error that the troubleshooting guide warns about on radeon 7500's. i have a radeon 9500. seems like the radeon's a b0rked with lg3d
