Hi aikon_konvict,
is great to here that ou got interested on LG3D!! You can get
instructions on how to use CVS to checkout lg3d and how to setup a
development environment at
https://lg3d.dev.java.net/lg3d-developers-guide.html#Download_the_Projec...,
and you should read
https://lg3d.dev.java.net/lg3d-getting-started.html before to get used
to the terminology and have the dependencies setup before trying to
compile it.

Btw, CVS stands for Concurrent Version System, and it's a revision
control system, more at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revision_Control_System

Hope it helps, and happy coding!

Sounds great! It is very helpful to have a programmer at the same time artist on the board :) I'm looking forward to seeing your vision! Especially, start-up menu and file manager would be interesting to think about how to improve.

The loader framework is in the dev-0-5-1 CVS branch, to get it use 'cvs -r dev-0-5-1 checkout lg3d-core'.

The framework should work with any Java 3D loader that implements the com.sun.j3d.utils.loaders.Loader interface (and most do).

I've tested the Java 3D obj loader and also Artur's Never Winter Nights loader. I have confidence that the Starfire research 3ds loader should also work but have not tested it yet. For a full set of available loaders see http://j3d.org/utilities/loaders.html

If you test any others please let us know what you find.
