Hi,
Anyone had any trouble installing the JRE 1.4.2_X where the install detects a JVM already running then spits out a warning asking the user to close all browsers and retry?? Here is the kicker: If I wait a minute or so and click retry the install finishes without error. My problem is that I want the install to run silent and do not need this warning showing up in the middle of my silent install. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

This will happen if the directory chosen for installation is locked. So if you choose C:/jre142 to install the jre, you must make sure that none of the directories or files inside C:/jre142 are locked. A good test for this is to see if you can rename the directory through windows explorer. Windows will also complain if this directory is locked and you try to rename it.

If you already have a jre installed on the machine, make sure that you are not installing into the same directory as the previous version.

This error message was improved to be more descriptive in J2SE 5.0
