Hi,

If I invoke my application using Java Webstart but it gets a ClassCastException or some other exception due to missing resources or some other bugs, I want to be able to get a dump of the stdout/stderr output or at least the Java exceptions in order to track this down. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Gili

(I will assume you are using 1.5.0, if you are using an earlier version this would be differant).

Using the Java Control Panel, go to the Advanced Tab, and under "debugging" check the checkbox "Enable tracing".

Now run your javaws application.

Then look for a new trace file created in the $deploy.user.home/log directory. (on Windows XP this will normally be C:\Documents And Settings\\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\log)
the new file "javawsxxx.trace" file created there should have the stacktrace.

Is there a way to enable this programmatically or have the contents of the log for my specific log sent to a specific email address?
