We are in a rather small environmet, 100 users. The users do not have any admin rights. How do we keep JRE up to date on these PC's. They are mostly Win2K boxes with a few XP. Do the updates require admin rights? Any advice?
Java Update is available to keep your computer up-to-date automatically with the latest Java releases.
The Java Update connects to java.com at a scheduled time and checks to see if there is an update available.
Unfortunately, you do need admin privilege to update java on the system.
Your 100+ end users do not have admin privilege, but perhaps the system admin can vnc to the end user system as administrator to allow java update to run at periodic schedule.
