I have googled and searched Sun's website regarding Transparency and I've come up dry. Is there anyway to make a JFrame or JMenuItem Transparent? Thanks, Jeremy
hava a look at NativeSkin
(works only for Windows, though)
There are ways to make UI objects "seem" transaparent, but they all currently involve using Robot. This might be fixed in JDK 1.5. See http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4479178.html
I believe there is in OS X. Someone posted some code for doing this as a comment to one of the blogs on javadesktop.org I can't recall which one, but there's not too many. As for non OS X, I doubt there is a cross-platform way. Since Apple did translucent menus for their Aqua look and feel, it's certainly possible, but it probably involves native code and modifying an existing look and feel.
