Have the JDNC powers-that-be considered requiring a loggin to subscribe
to the email list and to access its archives?

Right now, our personal email addresses can be easily harvested by
spammers.

I guarantee, this is just the first or second spam message that members
of this list will receive because their email address are available on
this list (there is a previous message that is in Chinese that I'm not
sure of).

Fortunately for me, I use disposable email addresses and I can discard
this one if it starts receiving too much spam; however, I expect that
this is not true of most people who have posted messages to this list.

I just sent a message to Colabnet to request that only subscribers
should have the ability to post to the mailing lists.

I noticed that your email address doesn't have a visible porion so that
your email address will get printed to the forums/mailing list archives.
If you enclose your address in brackets then the label portion will be
shown.

For example: if foo@bar.com is sent as "Foo" then only
"Foo" will be shown in the archives.

I noticed those in my Junk mail box. I'm using Mozilla and the junk mail
filters work really well for me.

This has already been changed so that non mailing list members won't be
able to post to the email list. Moderators will be getting spam messages
instead (for approval).
