spell checking?

I'm coming back to look at SwingX and it looks like it is maturing.

Are there any plans to include a spellchecker? I'm actually thinking mainly about JXEditor, but I suppose it could be useful elsewhere. Editing is the one place where I am sorely tempted to use the native OS X widgets instead of swing and spellchecking (and completion) is the primary force there.

Direct integration with OS X might be another idea, but I guess that would be a topic for JDIC. I'd love to see some sort of native-like integration with the OS X dictionary, for instance.

I'd love to... Alas, one needs to tread very carefully with this in the corporate US.

Also, if you are really intrigued by this feature, you could sign and fax in the JCA and then get commit access to the incubator. It'd be fun to see this feature implemented.

Someone might check out what jEdit is using--I think it is called
checky. There are some incomplete spell-checkers in Java on
SourceForge as well. I got the sense looking into this a couple of
years ago is that there is an actual real dollar cost to producing the
dictionary files, hence the lack of a free alternative, but I could
well be wrong about that.

No plans at the present, but it sounds like a really good idea. As you mention, optional integration with the OS (or some other) dictionary would be very useful. This would be a good candidate for an RFE, if you'd like to post one. Please put it in the swingx.dev.java.net project's issue tracker.

Thanks!
