I have downloaded and run the sample web application JavaHelp. I noticed that the help screens seem to all use Frames for the display. I was wondering if this is a requirement or could the help screens be written to not use frames (or give the option of frames or no-frames similar to how JavaDoc is generated).

Yes it could be done. Remember this is a demo. JavaHelp provides the tag
libraries and JavaBean classes. How they are used is up to the web designer.
