In JavaHelp 2.0, you can define a presentation that doesn't have the
navigation on the left by setting the

tag attribute displayviews to false. You do this in the helpset. If you subsequently use this presentation's name in your calls to the HelpBroker, you'll see a window with only the topic pane. For example (from the Helpset File section of the JavaHelp User's Guide): In the helpset file define the following secondary window: secondary window

If instead what you want is the main window to always appear this way, you
could define it as follows:

main window Project X Help javax.help.BackAction javax.help.ForwardAction javax.help.HomeAction
