OK, I use dynamic merging from within our Java-program.

We have tried not to specify javax.help.SortMerge in the view as well
because we knew it was the default but that didn't work.

My view in the subhelpset is now as:

Search

javax.help.SearchView
search

Should I have it WITH the datatag as well or not, like:

Search

javax.help.SearchView
engine="com.sun.java.help.search.DefaultSearchEngine">JavaHelpSearch
search

Thank you!

Are you statically merging or dynamically merging your helpsets?

For Static merging, the master helpset should look similar to the example
below. Note the default merge type for the Search view is
javax.help.SortMerge, so it doesn't need to be specifically declared. Each
subhelpset must then define its own Views which will be merged into the
master.

Dynamic merging works in a similar way, but obviously you don't specify the
subhelpsets in the master helpset file.

Ensure you re-compile 'ALL' the Search Index databases before running up
the master helpset.

Your indexing problem indicates that you have defined the wrong merge type
for the Index View.

We have succeeded in merging different HelpSets with our "master"-helpset,
but the search only works for the "master"-helpset, it does not find any
hits in the subhelpsets...why?

I have tried to remove the data-tag in the sub-helpset (is said that in the
jhug) and also tried to put:
mergetype="javax.help.SortMerge"

in the -tag but nothing works.

Anyone who knows what to do?

I also would like to have the Index to merge, now it only put a-z in the
subhelpset after a-z of the master.
Of course I would like to mix together so all a,b,c ... is mixed.

Would have no effect on in a SearchView. Its the deault and all others
are ignored.

Which means it had no data so it wouldn't work. Each subhelpset has to
define where its data is.
