it's magic! somehow managed to solve the Javahelp search problem!!

I had a hunch that one problem might be related to the other -
i.e. the double index entries that were showing up and the search files
not generating properly.

here is what I did to try and fix it:

- I went through all of the double index entries in the JavaHelp,
and checked the corresponding index markers in the Frame docs,
- I noticed that in every case where two index markers were worded
exactly the same
or where the index entry was a 3 level marker ( for example
device:installation: package),
the resulting index entries generated in the JavaHelp seem to take the
TOC heading or Chapter Title for that section,
and place it under the index entry.
This must be some sort of bug in the JH2.0 or maybe the J2SDK 1.4.1.
- I combed through all of the index markers and made sure that none
of the wording was identical, and I removed all the 3 level markers,
and finally everything seems to be generating ok.

I would be curious to hear from others if you've encountered this bug .

Eli,

I don't think this is a bug. This is how the WebWorks JavaHelp template
handles index keywords that target multiple topics. If a single index
keyword, for example, is used in three different topics, the user needs
a way to get from the index entry in the index navigator to any of those
three topics. To make this possible, WebWorks auto-generates subkeywords
in the index that use the topic titles for the three associated topics.
You may or may not agree that this is a good way of handling index
keywords that target multiple topics, but it is the as-designed behavior.

Regards,

Designed behavior does not exclude it being a bug.
