Hello

I am not a programmer at all but a simple Linux user but very excited by this project. Here is an idea that could be cool :

What if there was a login manager in 3D when X is launched?

Instead of displaying a small window asking the login and password (like gdm, kdm, ...), there could be the same but with small pictures of each user at the top of screen.

These pictures could be (for example) 128x128 pixels when selected (smaller not selected - let's say 64x64) and could turn around in circle on the Desktop while you move the mouse onto another image (another picture of a user).

Take for example, the CD player that was shown in the demo of Looking Glass. The CDs turned around in circle horizontally, the effect I am trying to describe could be similar.

So, the pictures would turn horizontally and when you select one of them, it would be highlighted and be shown with a larger size, in the middle of the screen. (the other smaller images would still be there, but behind, in circle).

And if an image is selected, a window could appear (with a fade in/fade out effect), lower on the screen, asking the login and password.

I don't know if I was clear enough to make me understand. English is not my natural born language so.. I try to do my best.

Thanks for reading this message and don't hesitate to reply :)

Hi,

You may want to re-post this over at Project Looking Glass:
https://lg3d.dev.java.net/

This list is mostly people already using Java3D for a project. I think
Looking Glass would be more interested in the conceptual items.

Nice idea though,
-mike

PS: Your English is very understandable.
